The group enjoyed a welcome drinks on the rooftop Surface Bar with panoramic Patong Bay view before a leisurely visit around the resort with regular intervals to experience the resort’s beachfront setting, restaurants and luxuriously appointed bedrooms and villas by Director of Sales and Marketing, Khun Wisuth Hemmakoth and Front Office Manager, Khun Wutti Sanjorn. The event was ended by a dinner at the Current of the Sea Restaurant, hosted by Director of Sales and Marketing and a group photographing.

Joyful Songkran festival

The pleasant Songkran festival comes to alleviate Thailand hot season and April is considered to be the
hottest month.

Not only Thailand held this festival but also Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Sibsongpanna State in China and Sri Lanka.

The word “Songkran” means move or change so this festival is the period that the sun moves close to our earth and all southeastern people regard this time as their new year. Moreover, this period is also the harvest season.

India is the first country holding this festival before the end of the year but there wasn’t water war as today. After this festival spread over the Asia, water started to play the vital role in celebration, being the symbol of richness. In Thailand, it is believed that the festival was first celebrated in the north of Thailand.

There are three days for this festival:

First day is called Songkran day, the last day of the year. People will clean their home to welcome the coming New Year.

Second day is Wan Nao. People will bathe the Buddha image and all children will Rod-nam-dum-hua (pour water on the hands of revered elders and ask for blessing) their parents. Furthermore, they believed that saying the rough word on that day will bring the bad luck.

The last is Payawan Day, the beginning day of New Year. People will make merit for their happiness. In the north of Thailand, they will bring a timber to prop the big tree for their long life. All male and female teenagers will water each other for removing all bad things. This is only one day that they will meet each other, doing activities at the temple together.

Now this belief is still visible only in the up-country because most people put more importance on water war. Cold water and ice replace Num-ob (Thai perfume) an d powder are new Songkran charm. Water war at Khao San Road in Bangkok, Road around Chiangmai moat, Kao Nheaw Road in Khon kaen and pedestrianized Bang La Road in Patong reflex new Thai Songkarn lifestyle.

Change can happen everywhere, it isn’t wrong. It is inevitable. It is the way the world turns. For some it’s good for it’s not. Still this festival remains wonderful roots and charm.

The New Year’s Eve 2010 at La Flora Resort Patong was celebrated at rooftop Surface Bar, overlooking the panoramic Patong Bay. Saying goodbye to 2009, hoping for a better 2010 featured live music, performances, fireworks, and dance the night away. The night was looked colorful everywhere incorporated into the venue decorations with the “Colorful Night” theme when there are thousands of fire lanterns in the sky that night. The countdown was simply highlighted but got underway; firework displays along the coast of Patong Beach illuminated the sky.

Phuket is famous for its nightlife, and no matter what you’re looking for, if you love to get dressed up, dance and party, you’ll find it on New Year’s Eve. This is a good time to start fresh, seek fortune in the year ahead, and promise yourself for New Year’s regulations. Have a very happy New Year 2010!

The couple took their vows right on stunning Patong beach. The ceremony featured a white colored theme chosen by the couple and incorporated into room decorations and wedding motifs. The wedding reception started by the main pool with drinks and hors d’oeurves.

It was a traditional Christian wedding ceremony with songs, bible passages and ring exchanging. The vow was witnessed by Christian Master, hotel guests, management and staffs. After the vow ended, it was a first kiss as a married couple when champagne and a wedding cake were ready and waiting. The celebrations then included an photo session, a candle light dinner on the beach with launching a fire lantern, an unique touch in a truly memorable day.

“We had a suite overlooking the ocean, with a private swimming pool – the accommodations were spectacular. The food was great, and the staffs were just incredible. They really made us feel like family with all that they did for us. It was a busy week at La Flora Resort Patong, which is good. The Phuket Carnival at Patong, on 15 -21 December 2009 helps to spice up the festive tourist mood.  Visitors, both locals and tourists seems enjoy great varieties of booths. We have a lovely guest review on Tripadvisor.

“This is our last day at the La Flora Patong after 14 days of pure ultimate bliss. We have stayed in many 5 star resorts around the world, however the service levels provided by the management team and staff at the La Flora Patong were amongst the best that my husband and I have experienced in any of our previous worldwide holidays. Their attention to detail,friendly approach and helpfulness were of the highest standard and exceeded our expectations. Our room, its servicing and facilities provided were unquestionabley 5* all over.

THE ARRIVAL

Welcomed and greeted by reception and given lovely refreshments with Fresh Ice cold young coconuts which was well deserved after a 14 hour flight from london. We were then asked to pick our music for us to listen to. We had so much choice but I have to say if your going to try any you must try the Jazz cd it is awesome!
We were also treated to a scented oil for our room which the housekeeping scented our rooms with every evening to help us wind down.

ROOM

We upgraded to a pool acess room for out our honey moon, The room was beautifully decorated with Rose pettles sprinkled over the bed in a heart shape. With a complimentary fresh cream chocolate cake which put a big smile on my face. The room was amazing in most respects with a 5 spreaker dvd sound system and the room was very comfortable to spend time in. You get a choice of a bath, rain overhead shower or power shower. We loved the complimentary DVD collection great for those rainy afternoons. The outdoor area was really quite stunning with a daybed/ sunbeds / shade available.

FOOD

Breakfast at this place is simply sensational. If the green tea doesnt wake you up – the extensive choice of organic fruits and veg they blend into a shake of vitamin boosting goodies will certainly make you feel a million dollars. The service by the breakfast team was exceptional greeted so warmly every morning.

We ate all over Patong at all of the top restaurant’s and were impressed with the perfection of the dishes that the “Current of the Sea” resturant had to offer. Presentation was impeccable and standard of food impressive. My husband loves to eat and he fell in love with the Khao Pad which he ordered from room service almost every day!
They have a massive selection of great tasting wines. The only place in patong I could find Rose which was slightly pricey compared to london but exactly what I expected in quality

OTHER WAYS TO INDULGE..

If you get bored sunbathing / eating sea food / floating along an infinity pool / you could always head to the La Flora spa. I was treated by my husand to a “Tranqulity Earth” Package. This was a head to toe ultimate pamper session for 3 and a half hours. I have no complaints about the price as when I stepped out of the Spa, I felt like I had landed on a cloud of orchids pettles and was in complete heaven. Believe me I was away with the fairys for days after the massage bought me into pure harmony. The setting of the spa was tranquil and the service was again unbeatable.

The surface bar on the rooftop overlooking the sea was breath-taking to say the least. We enjoyed a glass of cocktail while enjoying the the most amazing view of sunset I have ever seen. This was only possible due to its location right on the legendary beach of Patong . The shopping/bargaining places were right across the street while the red lights of Bangla road was just 5 minutes walk away must try the ping pong show it it the funniest thing you will ever see!

THE BEACH

Was lovley very busy and alot going on must have to let you know it is bang in the center of Gay Zone hence we only spent 2 days there. My husband and I rented a bike and went to Nai Harn beach most days only 15 minuites away. This beach was absolutely gorgeous, alot more quite and tranquil great place to compleatly chill out.

DECOR

It was spotless and beautiful in every sense of the word. Incredible for such a small beautiful resort with not a fault! Design was ultra modern, sleek and in line with the design of the resort – contemporary lobby and extraordinary infinity pool. Bang on the money for a 5 star resort if modern clean lines are your thing. The lighting was amazing great open spaces and very light airy design which is consistant all over the hotel.

SERVICE

We found our host Ryan to be fantastic. Ryan worked in the concierge and he and his team organised our 2 weeks so we had an unltimate expereience as this was our first time to Thailand.
Some of the things he organised for us:
Phi Phi Islands Tour, Quad biking, Fantasy Theamed Show, Rental Bike, Reccomened us to visit some of the best beaches, Elephant Trecking,Patong Nightclubs, Thai Boxing, Booked tables at some of the finest resturants and arranged our Spa Day. What I liked about him most is that he was upfront and honest about his recomendations. There wasn’t a question he could not answer for us or any request he couldn’t deliever!
The waiters in the restaurants worked very hard and all looked very happy in their jobs.We were treated like absolute royalty and cannot praise them enough. My face was literally aching from having smiley conversations. Seriously!

After Two weeks at the La Flora Patong we are sad to go, however excited about returning next year! We now will be traveling to another resort in Hui Hin for another week before we return to London.

And now due to La Flora have very high standards so lets see what happens….
Overall 100% Rating for the Hotel, Service, Location and Atmosphere.
